Bio-Medical Research Ltd. (BMR) was established in 1990, the manufacturing plant is based in Co. Donegal, in the North West of Ireland and the Marketing, Research & Development and Head Office is based in Galway, in the West of Ireland. BMR have two main brand divisions: Slendertone and NeuroTech.

The Slendertone division is involved in the marketing and distribution of electrical muscle stimulators for the health and beauty business and the NeuroTech division in neuromuscular electrical stimulation.

The Slendertone brand has been in existence for over 30 years and is well known, while NeuroTech has had strong brand awareness in Ireland, the USA, the UK and Germany for over 10 years.

In Galway, BMR have a strong Research & Development team and are involved in projects with the European Union and a variety of Universities both in Ireland and abroad. Both product and electronic design are all done in-house and BMR are currently working with design agencies both at home and abroad.

BMR's Marketing Department in Galway works on new product development and market development. BMR have developed a strong expertise in direct marketing, where they have invested heavily in Ireland and the UK in direct marketing campaigns. BMR's main channels of distribution consist of TV (short form and long form), retail, catalogues, direct press and data base marketing. The export market is extremely strong, representing approximately 95% of total sales and as a result, fluency and expertise in foreign markets have been grown in-house. The product range has grown threefold since 1992 and BMR are constantly looking for new products and ideas to exploit the existing distribution set up. BMR have experienced dramatic growth increase, growing a turnover of 1.5 million dollars in 1991 to 37 million dollars in 1999. This growth is expected to continue and structures have been put in place to cater for this expansion. BMR have distribution subsidiaries in the US, Germany, Japan, and France.
